Principal Scientist, Drug Discovery

The Position

Arrowhead Pharma is seeking a Principal Scientist with experience in oligonucleotide delivery and drug discovery.

Responsibilities

• Lead oligonucleotide team to design and synthesize new chemical entities to address/improve oligonucleotide’s delivery/safety/efficacy
• Design and execute in vitro and in vivo studies for SAR evolution
• Work cross functionally with other discovery teams to advance research into new ligand/receptor pair for extrahepatic delivery of oligonucleotide
• Mentor and manage junior scientists
• Attend internal discussions and present research findings and progress

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a related discipline with 10+ years of experience in oligonucleotide drug discovery
• Hands-on experience in siRNA and ASO design and delivery
• Strong background in solid phase synthesis and bioconjugation of oligonucleotide is a plus
• Experience with analytical instruments, such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, etc
• Highly innovative and creative in problem solving
• Ability to work within cross-functional teams
• Ability to prioritize and impact research
• Self-motivated with strong working ethics
