The opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated immunologist to join the Odyssey team at our laboratories in Boston, MA. Under direct supervision of the Project Leader, you will perform technical support to drive scientific research in the field of immunology. You will also participate in supervising junior research staff.  You will have a strong background in immunological, biochemical, and molecular techniques.

You will work in a highly cross-disciplinary, fast-moving, and fluid environment, and will be drawing upon extensive experience driving drug discovery projects. You will possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills, be a world-class thought partner, and have a proven record of developing science.

Duties and responsibilities:

         Design and execute high-quality cell-based assays to support mechanism of action studies and lead optimization of compounds for pipeline immunology projects

         Lead the development and execution of primary immune cell assays to guide selection of disease indication and patient population

         Lead the design of animal studies via coordination with internal teams or CROs; define tissue and disease specific target engagement levels, establish, and run biomarker plans and translational PK/PD assessment

         Provide interpretation and analysis of results and present findings in cross-functional project team meetings

         May generate external peer reviewed materials / publications and documents for regulatory submission

         May manage CRO contracts or external collaborative research

         Participate in lab organization and responsible for accurate record keeping

         Mentor and train junior scientists as needed

Qualifications required: 

  • Doctorate in immunology or related field plus post-doctoral or Biotech/Pharma experience with at least 3+ years of relevant experience. Master’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience will be considered
  • A proven record of scientific accomplishments as demonstrated by publications in peer review journals
  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, mechanistic investigation using chemical and genetic tools, and cell line engineering using CRISPR or RNAi
  • Technical expertise in developing and performing flow cytometry-based assays
  • Exceptional work ethic, team-focused mindset, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Execution focused, team oriented, and highly motivated

 Preferred Qualifications:

 Hands on skills and experience in immunological, biochemical, and molecular techniques including:

  • isolation of primary cells
  • quantification of mRNA (qPCR) and protein expression
  • ELISA
  • western blotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • multiplex assays
  • molecular cloning
  • proximity-based assays
  • biochemical and cellular screening assays
  • experience with animal models a plus
