We hire throughout the year at varying levels of experience and offer opportunities to work 100% remotely OR out of our NYC, Boston, LA, Vancouver, and London offices. 

Principal Scientist, Senior Methodologist oversees a research agenda and has responsibility for the development and dissemination of innovative methods research to support comparative effectiveness and/or cost-effectiveness questions involving clinical trials, patient reported outcomes, and/or real-world studies. They are a critically contributing partner to the overall success and growth of our business, actively engaging in industry thought leadership activities to increase the reputation of Precision services by speaking at national and international conferences and serving as an internal and external advisor regarding the optimal methodology for a given study.


  • Developing and updating our research agenda to drive the application and dissemination of innovative methods research
  • Supporting business development by contributing to research proposals and presentation content
  • Collaborating with colleagues to support project-specific needs in terms of identifying, applying, or extending relevant methods
  • Developing new concepts and ideas to extend intellectual understanding
  • Performing statistical analyses to develop and evaluate new methodology
  • Publishing and disseminating research through high quality international journals, conferences, and other presentations
  • Leading training to support internal team development regarding innovative methods research
  • Support development of analysis code and example deliverables for implementation of new methods in future studies

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in a subject related to medical statistics, epidemiology, clinical trials, and/or health economics
  • Specialist expertise regarding comparative effectiveness methodologies (including indirect treatment comparisons) considering evidence from clinical trials, patient reported outcomes, or real-world studies, and integration within cost-effectiveness framework
  • Knowledge regarding Health Technology Assessment including principles of evidence-based healthcare, critical appraisal and the interpretation and synthesis of health care research evidence, and awareness of existing guidance, and methods landscape
  • Experience performing statistical analyses using Bayesian framework; Proficient programmer in R, JAGS/OpenBUGS & Stan with familiarity of GitHub
  • Demonstrated track record of methods publications and expertise related health economics and outcomes research
  • Excellent writing skills, including appropriate use of technical language
  • Strong communicator with ability to collaborate effectively with range of professionals
  • Position held within an academic institution and/or public body with a focus on HEOR

Precision is required by law in some states or cities to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.

$120,000—$165,000 USD
