Principal SoC Architect

Aptiv's custom silicon management group provides critical custom Silicon for all Aptiv products including Autonomous Driving, ADAS, Infotainment, Zonal Control, and others. This team translates the system requirements of Aptiv's next-generation products into the SOC/IC requirements and architectural design, then manages the technical performance of external SOC/IC design partners who design the custom silicon SOCs/ICs for use in Aptiv's products.

We are looking for a SoC architects to work closely with multiple engineering teams who are focused on the development of Aptiv's future generation of products.

Your Role:

• Work with platform and platform Architects to create SoC architecture specification
• Work with internal as well as 3rd party IP providers to drive the SoC architecture
• Work with Global Supply chain teams to connect and drive requirements for 3rd party IPs specification and IP contracts
• Comprehend the SoC use cases and compare all the IPs for PPA, features and drive selection of the correct IPs

• Work with SoC micro architects to complete silicon and IP integration definitions, HW/SW interfaces, programming models
• Determine power and performance tradeoffs, transient and steady-state performance states, idle and dynamic power states, as well as how data and control flows interact
• Determine electrical and thermal considerations at the chip, package and system levels
• Verify and track the IP functional coverage is achieved to Aptiv standards and SoC use cases
• Drive tool, flow and methodologies used for the IP by the vendors are aligned with SoC requirements
• Coordinate and track key deliverables and issues with our internal and 3rd party IP partners
• Perform design, verification reviews via coverage matrix and make sure use cases are fully verified, validated
• Create IP acceptance criteria for SoC integration, synthesis, timing, verification, validation and test coverage aspects
• Work with our design partners and support them through the execution of the SoC
• Create handshake with external partners to ensure first-pass silicon success

Your Background:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in ASIC/SOC micro architecture and design
• 10+ years of experience in ARM CPU based SoC and/or silicon development

Preferred Requirements:

• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• 15+ years of experience in ASIC/SOC micro architecture and design
• 15+ years of experience in ARM CPU based SoC and/or silicon development
• 20+ years experience in semiconductor industry
• Experience with 3rd party IP eco system
• Experience in RTL coding as a micro architect for a complex silicon project from concept to launch
• Experience in SoC debug and validation
• Experience in Tcl, Perl, Python scripting
• Experience with ARM CPUs, memory sub-systems, NOCs, caching hierarchies and other HW accelerators
• Experience driving power-performance-area trades
• Familiarity with video codecs, Ethernet, PCIe, Neural network IPs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Its a plus if you have automotive design experience

Salary Range: $165,000 - $300,000

*As a candidate for this position, your salary and will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Aptiv considers relevant to the hiring decision.
