ASRC Federal Agile Decision Sciences is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems.

We are seeking highly motivated Software Engineers to support the development and sustainment of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) anti-ballistic missile system project in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will architect, develop, test, document and implement software requirements. Responsibilities will also include researching and developing solutions, reviewing preliminary and critical designs, conducting integration readiness, and performing software acceptance.

GMD isthe United States' anti-ballistic missile system for intercepting incoming warheads in space, during the midcourse phase of ballistic trajectory flight.It is a major component of the American missile defense strategy to counter ballistic missiles in defense of the homeland.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field), Computer Science preferred.
  • US Citizenship and Active US Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • 9+ years' experience in software development, maintenance, or support in an Open/Layered Architecture Environment.
  • Experience developing software in modern object-oriented programming language such as Ada, C, C++ or Java.
  • Experience developing software with Agile scaled principles.
  • Experience with Object Oriented design/development including the employment of Design Patterns to facilitate the utilization of software insulation techniques and plugins
  • Experience writing functional and technical design specifications for hardware and software
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of cloud computing (Azure, Kubernetes)
  • Technical development with working knowledge of DevSecOps, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery, and automated testing
  • Defining meaningful empirical technical measures in automated testing environments
  • Assessing issues for severity to mission and collaborating with subject matter experts and design team leaders
  • Summarizing assessment results and briefing them to senior leaders
  • Experience working with Linux and UNIX environments.
  • Strong skills with Integrated Development Environments (IDE) such as Eclipse.
  • Familiar with UML syntax and its use.
  • Familiar with driver-based and automated test environments
  • Must be able to work in a team environment collaborate with other professionals to implement designs and solutions
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs

The following is considered a plus:

  • JIRA (Project Management Tool)
  • xUnit Framework, Junit and CPPUnitLite
  • Knowledge of scripting languages/tools - Python, MATLAB etc
  • Experience with international sensors and fire control system
  • Experience working on CMMI level 3+ programs
  • Experience with Missile Defense Systems and Sense Warn based systems
  • Experience with international sensors and fire control systems.
  • Experience, interest, and aptitude in developing software focused on command and control threat tracking, track correlation, discrimination services, and reporting services
  • Experience, interest, and aptitude in complex missile defense algorithms, associated software implementation, discrimination techniques, track correlation, and track processing.
  • Interest and aptitude in designing and implementing software to solve complex algorithmic math and physics-based engagement planning problems.
  • Interest and experience in using math and physics software applications
