Principal Software Engineer - Cloud Engineering

Are you interested in taking ownership for solving unique engineering problems and making an impact on the whole industry? 

As part of the Cloud Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for ambitious and complex projects, usually spanning multiple engineering teams, pushing the boundaries of modern engineering and creating infrastructure supporting hundreds of thousands of end users running more than 3.9 billion queries and 515 million data workloads each day. 

Cloud Engineering in Poland contributes to the following strategic initiatives: :

• Virtualisation of Cloud Service Providers, allowing Snowflake to seamlessly operate under multiple cloud providers.
• End to end platform for managing compute, from our own minimalistic operating system, declarative container definitions to a container platform runtime.
• Fleet uniformity program, ranging from various automation projects, new engineering policies and complex migrations. 

AS A PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

• Drive tactical and strategic plans and initiatives for one or more of the Cloud Engineering areas
• Participate with other Cloud Engineering, Security and Product Engineering teams in decision-making processes on technical or business issues
• Contribute amongst other engineers across teams to deliver strategic projects.
• Mentor and coach other team members.
• Build cloud infrastructure for our services for scale to meet the commitments to our customers regarding reliability, availability, and performance

OUR IDEAL PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER - CLOUD ENGINEERING AT SNOWFLAKE, WILL HAVE:

• BS/CS, MS/CS, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale distributed systems in production, with recent experience in building large scale cloud services.
• Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Strong development skills in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, C, C++, Go.
• Experience working with infrastructure from major cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)

At Snowflake, equity is an important part of our total compensation package which is comprised of:

• Base salary 
• Bonus target or sales commission target
• Equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)

The final compensation offered will vary based on individual experience, skills, and job-based knowledge.
