Principal Software Engineer, Data Platform

As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll report into the Engineering Manager of our Data Platform team, and you will help us scale our global infrastructure at a time of incredible growth for our business. You Will

• Build, automate and improve services that support Roblox's Big Data ecosystem.
• Build, automate and improve process automation to improve engineering workflows.
• Play an essential part in our company-wide automation community.
• Scalability! You will work across tens of thousands to build, deploy and maintain an exabytes scale Analytics Platform.
• Design massively scalable systems on our global infrastructure and platform as we build the Metaverse!
• Work with our stakeholders to push innovation across Roblox

You Have:

• Passion about Big Data and large scale distributed systems.
• A BS degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 10 years of Software Engineering experience with hands-on DevOps exposure.
• At least 5 years of experience building data platforms and working with infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Experience working with Spark and Trino as well as Iceberg and Parquet.
• Experience building, and deploying distributed services and are excited to work with them at a global scale.
• Experience using common systems programming languages and frameworks (Python, Java, Go, …).
• Excitement about getting in front of complex problems, working with a diverse and passionate community; overcome emergent issues and contribute to long-running projects as a part of the team.
• A Planning Mindset - Thinking ahead with tasks relating to projects and the bottom line are top priority for you.
