Principal Software Engineer- Java

Vestmark is actively looking for a motivated Principal Software Engineer with Java development and relational database experience with a passion for technology and solving complex problems to join our rapidly growing Scrum organization! You will be a key member of our team responsible for the development of both web-based applications and back-office systems. Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test and maintain highly scalable and reliable applications using Java, Go, SQL, and JavaScript/Typescript.
• Develop interactive, modern web applications using React, MUI, and related technologies.
• Embrace a cloud-first approach, harnessing best practices in cloud architecture and design.
• Design and build modular and maintainable systems using microservices architecture.
• Hands-on software development for applications within our VestmarkONE suite of financial services, including Portfolio Trading, Proposal Generation, and Investor Portal.
• Build and maintain features to match our expanding scale and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver new features and enhancements.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Contribute to the growth and development of our core values: We Before Me, Positive Energy, Knowledge Explorer, and Own It

Job Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience developing and testing scalable enterprise applications using Java, Go, JavaScript and Typescript.
• Strong algorithmic and object-oriented design skills.
• Extensive experience with SQL and Relational Databases such as SQL Server.
• Expertise in testing scalable systems using tools/frameworks such as JUnit/NUnit, Jasmine, Jest, and JMeter.
• Experience in object-relational mapping technologies such as Hibernate.
• Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-first design principles.
• Proven problem-solving and analytical skills in fast-paced agile environments.
• Excellent communication skills capable of effectively conveying technical ideas.
• Skilled at providing technical leadership for impactful projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Liquibase, Apache Camel, and ServiceMix.
• Experience building webservices/API using REST.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud computing environments.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD practices.
• Experience with clustered application deployment.
• Knowledge of React or other JavaScript frameworks/libraries.
