Job Description

Position Overview

The Launch Pad team keeps SingleStore at the forefront of innovation in data and analytics. We transform creative ideas into solutions, accelerate the delivery of critical capabilities through partnerships and represent SingleStore as an active participant in the data ecosystem.

As a Principal Software Engineer on the Launch Pad team, you share some of the following attributes with your teammates:

  • You are imagining the future of databases and you are writing the code that turns imagination into reality.
  • You are extremely passionate about databases and distributed systems and curious about extending them towards general purpose computing.
  • You love low-level systems engineering and cloud-native SaaS applications, and you get fired up about improving the developer experience and the usability of the database.
  • You like working on closed-source and on open-source projects.
  • You are eager to share your knowledge and work internally and with the world through blogs, presentations, talks, social media, etc.
  • You have a growth mindset and you want to level up. Learning a new programming language to do the job is fun.

If these attributes describe you—or part of you—check out some of the recent Launch Pad projects on Github. Extending the SingleStoreDB engine with a WebAssembly (Wasm) runtime and building out the Wasm developer toolkit is one example of the type of things we do. Building an amazing Python database interface that is also extremely fast is another example.

  • At least four years of experience developing and debugging in systems level C, C++, or Rust, particularly on Linux.
  • At least two years of experience either working directly on a database engine or developing applications that make heavy use of one or more databases.
