Principal Software Engineer - Platform

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

HiveWatch is in search of a Principal Software Engineer - Platform. This role will report directly to our Engineering Manager for Platform. The platform team’s focus is to enable other engineering teams to be productive and efficient while ensuring customer environments stay available, reliable, and performant.

The team designs and delivers modern cloud infrastructure, edge compute environments, delivery automation, identity and access management, and systems continuity and monitoring.  As a Principal Software Engineer - Platform you will:

• Be a technical leader of Platform initiatives including systems architecture and design, technical scoping and implementation of Platform features
• Own mission critical systems and processes to include CI/CD, observability tooling, network architecture, Edge compute development, and SQL database maintenance
• Build and extend solutions with observability in mind to ensure service level agreements with our customers are met
• Reliably deliver integral platform features to our customers on AWS using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and modern service delivery practices
• Increase the resiliency, scalability, and maintainability of our production, test, and development environments
• Participate in the end-to-end lifecycle of software delivery through planning, development, deployment, testing, maintenance, and monitoring
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, fostering our culture of communication, openness, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence

TECH STACK:

• Languages: Kotlin, Rust, TypeScript, and Python
• Deployments: GitHub Actions, Terraform, Terragrunt, and Helm
• Infrastructure: AWS (Kinesis, Serverless, RDS, EKS), Kubernetes, Docker, Postgres, IoT Edge

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with object oriented programming, debugging bespoke software, and performance/diagnostics measurement skills
• Expertise in AWS architecture and services
• Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Terragrunt
• Experience with cloud networking: VPC, WAF, load-balancing, DNS, certificate management
• Experience with distributed, scalable miro service-based architectures
• Experience building, distributing, and operating: application containers, Docker, AWS-Lambda layers
• Experience measuring service level indicators to inform system health and incident response

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• AWS Solutions Architect (associate/professional), or equivalent experience
• Experience troubleshooting custom applications in a service architecture
• Experience with highly available Relational Databases, SQL, monitoring tools
• Experience building and operating application containers
• Experience working in a professional development workflow, Git, issue tracking, and collaboration tools and Agile methodologies
• Experience in delivering to and supporting cloud multi-tenant customers
• Expertise in taking functional requirements from a product team, scoping them into deliverable features, and decomposing them into actionable technical tasks 

ADDITIONAL INFO:

• Salary range for this position: $180,000 to $190,000 per year
• Eligible to participate in HiveWatch Equity Incentive Plan
