Principal Software Engineer - Platform

About the Role:

The Platform Team uses cutting-edge cloud technology to design and build the security, data pipeline, and networking infrastructure to transform the US healthcare industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer to join a world-class engineering team and to help solve our customer's most challenging business and operational needs. We work in various contexts, using many tools and technologies to remove obstacles and deliver high-quality solutions that our customers and fellow engineers can rely on.

You will:

• Drive design and implementation of multi-cloud infrastructure conforming to the most stringent security standards
• Architect, design, and implement high-performance and secure distributed systems that are the foundation of the Abacus data processing platform. Examples include:
• A centralized authentication and authorization control plane API/UI
• A centralized log and metrics collection system
• A robust monitoring and alerting system
• Work cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders to define requirements and timelines
• Utilize state-of-the-art CI/CD systems to deliver value to customers efficiently
• Be a leader, mentor, and promoter of best practices both within the team and within the larger organization

What we're looking for:

• 8+ years of development experience, including architecture and design of complex systems
• Deep cloud experience with a focus on data lake/warehouse services, multiple clouds (AWS/Azure/GCP) preferred
• Full command of containerization, specifically Docker and Kubernetes
• Solid understanding of Linux systems administration and networking
• Comfort and experience with ETL data pipelines
• Working knowledge of auth protocols such as OAuth2, SAML, OpenID Connect, etc.
• Fluent command of the tools of the trade, including Python, Terraform, SQL, Bash
• Knowledge of best practices as related to designing and building efficient, maintainable, testable, portable applications
• A proven, relentless focus on security
