As a Principal Staff Engineer, you will provide an essential, tactical role operating across a group of Agile development teams. With the guidance of organizational leadership, you will focus on difficult business, technical, and organizational problems to find the right path forward for agile teams. This may include operating as part of the team for a time, including working tickets for one or more sprints. In collaboration with architects, you may provide architectural approach and execution for technical systems of limited scope. To be successful, a staff engineer must also understand and keep in mind the high-level goals, product vision, and technical vision across the area they operate.

Responsibilities
- Join teams as directed to focus on a specific problem
- In collaboration with Engineering and Product leadership, bring broad perspective to teams to help them understand the larger product and technical vision and how their solution functions as part of that whole
- Ensure highly visible and business critical features are delivered efficiently with quality and expected functionality
- Provide technical guidance for complex functionality consistent with architectural standards
- Help teams struggling with a specific deliverable to re-evaluate and get the project back on track
- Contribute to laying foundation for new technical initiatives
- Assist in identifying organizational needs for new frameworks, tooling etc.
- Provide strong technical leadership for the teams in your related group
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers to identify, mentor, and champion growing technical leaders
- Fully participate in the established nCino SDLC process and coding standards, identifying areas of improvement in both
- Proactively identify risks in the planned work for related group
- Continually push yourself and the teams you work with to become higher performing
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 7+ years experience or combination experience, education, & extraordinary performance
- Substantial expertise and professional experience in at least one OOP language: Java, C#, Apex, Ruby, Scala, Python
- Deep understanding of web application development
- Demonstrated ability to create enterprise-scale application designs using validated industry patterns and practices
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement
- Ability to motivate yourself and others, prioritize your own work, and adapt and thrive in a dynamic team environment
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Real passion for software development
Desired:
- Deep knowledge of client-side JavaScript frameworks like Angular, React, etc.
- Experience in leading software development teams and mentoring developers
- Experience in Agile/SCRUM and TDD development methodologies
- Experience developing on the Salesforce Platform, particularly developing managed packages as a part of the ISV Partner Program
- Experience in using the AWS platform for delivering SAAS products to market
- Experience designing APIs and functioning in a service oriented architecture
