Principal System Engineer (System Integration Lead)

As Principal Systems Integration Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, simulate, integrate, test, certify, and support cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from state of the art mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll be responsible for designing systems to meet demanding customer requirements, developing and building complex systems integration labs to verify the design, and integrate a variety of systems together to create a seamless product for the customer. As a cross functional engineer, you'll perform system and component-level integration of new products and develop new integration processes throughout the product lifecycle.
As the Systems Integration Lead, you will lead a technical team of 15+ engineers. Key responsibilities are tracking design maturity, trades, risks, and removing blockers and making decisions to keep progress moving. This person should have technical expertise in spacecraft design and development and excellent leadership skills. This is a high visibility and high responsibility role that will directly impact the success and risk posture of a novel design solution.

Must-haves:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
• Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Progressive experience working in multidisciplinary design & development teams
• Proficiency in space-based design, trades, and development
• Leadership skills, team-building, and system organization

Preferred:

• Ability to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
• Technical problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative technical solutions.
• Ability to guide technical designs through development into a final deliverable product.
• Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision.
• Proven successful experience in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test.
• Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical trouble shooting techniques
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, Government, or US Military

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $159,430.15 - $219,216.46
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
