As the Principal Systems Engineer - Lead for our LIFE™ habitat, you will implement Systems Engineering best practices, processes, integrate digital engineering approaches with the team, and manage staff focused on development of habitation products. You will be using your skills and expertise to develop and implement a transformational approach to Systems Engineering processes and SE data architecture, model-based systems engineering, and technical integration with analysis, simulation and test to enable the rapid deployment of the LIFE™ habitat.
You will manage multiple functional teams within Systems Engineering to ensure the successful design, development, certification and operation of the vehicle. You will be accountable for supporting program milestone planning and execution, and development of the LIFE™ habitat to achieve on-orbit operations by 2027.
Must-haves:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 (fourteen) years or more years of experience; higher education may substitute for relevant experience
• Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
• Advanced understanding of requirements management, interface management, system design and integration, risk management, verification and validation (V&V) principles, and other aspects of systems engineering management
• Successful implementation of both traditional and modern Systems Engineering principles
• Experience developing and implementing new processes
• Demonstrated success using model based system engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering approaches for long-term cost savings
• Experience in training systems engineers on new SE tools, processes, best practices, stakeholder identification
• Experience organizing, preparing for, and executing program milestone reviews, technical planning cycles, and major customer meetings
• Experience working with distributed teams, where personnel and teammates may be spread across multiple locations, organizations, and company

Preferred:

• Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly in spacecraft and/or NASA human spaceflight programs, across all phases of the program development lifecycle
• Experience as a functional manager
• Experience with hardware development, integration, test and operations
• Experience as a cost account manager (CAM)
• Experience with or certification in INCOSE standards

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $134,597.00 - $185,070.89
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
