Principal Systems Engineer (Specialty Engineering Lead) (Contingent upon award)

As a Principle Systems Engineer, you'll assist in developing and implementing integrated plans for product development including coordinating activities throughout the product lifecycle from design concept phase to release. You will monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. You'll also review, manage, proactively challenge, and control status of project programs and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and guide and lead teams in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution and contingency planning.

Must-haves:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in STEM or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
• Thorough knowledge of specialty engineering (Reliability, Maintainability, Availability, Sustainability, Mission Assurance, Survivability, Safety) principles and practice
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team
• Detailed understanding of requirements management, system design, integration
• Ability to work and communicate with technical and specialty subject matter expert engineers to derive and capture requirements and architecture data across a system of systems
• Superb communication and writing skills
• Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
• Desire for new challenges, to be on the ground floor of an exciting capability for our nation, and to be part of the initial cadre developing a new multi-domain system
• Experience leading Specialty Engineering activities through successful completion of design milestones such as System Requirements Reviews (SRRs), System Functional Reviews (SFRs), and Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDRs and CDRs)
• Ability to perform as an extended part of the Mission & Systems Engineering Integration team and collaborate with the Segment IPT teams to assess the data and drive specialty engineering requirements into the architecture
• Experience in program execution of HW or SW Reliability Engineering scope of work with knowledge of SE process.
• Good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to drive specialty engineering requirements into the IPTs and interact with customer for a state of the art, initial phase, systems-of-systems solution.
• An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance with TS/SCI eligibility required

Preferred:

• Typically 4-6 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience
• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers
• Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management
• Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure
• Professional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and/or Program Management Professional (PMP
• Experience or certification in INCOSE standard
• Functional Management experience (people, processes and tools), including experience hiring, training and mentoring technical teams
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $159,430.15 - $219,216.46
