Primary Responsibilities:
As the Segment lead for Visiting Vehicles to our Orbital Reef space station, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be guiding interface requirements development for visiting vehicles to Orbital Reef, supporting procurements and pre-mission operations planning, requirements verification and Flight Certification, ushering all of these critical items through the design lifecycle, from operational concept through design, simulation, test and delivery in a data-centric model and simulation environment. You will lead evaluation of on-orbit vehicle performance and safety during rendezvous and capture, as well as development of the interface architecture, requirements, analyses, logistics, and simulation between the Visiting Vehicle and Space Station. You will own Segment-level and interface products through the Program lifecycle, resulting in mission preparation, launch, docking and station resupply.
Must-haves:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline and typically 14 (fourteen) or more years of relevant experience; higher education may be considered in lieu of experience
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for required education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with identifying, defining, and coordinating system interfaces in a complex system of systems
  • Progressive experience working in and leading multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within and across levels of a complex system of systems, coordinating team communication, model development, and integrated planning
  • Advanced understanding of requirements management, functional requirements, derivation, and allocation; systems design and interfaces, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

Preferred:
  • Aerospace industry experience, particularly in spacecraft and/or human spaceflight programs
  • Experience in verification and certification of visiting vehicles supporting the International Space Station
  • Progressive experience leading baseline definition and maturation, including high impact trade studies and technical performance measures
  • Experience conducting internal and external milestone reviews
  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools, such as DOORS, Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody
  • Experience operating in a data-driven, model-based team, including Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), knowledge of SysML, UAF
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required. Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $159,430.15 - $219,216.46
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
