The Data Center Workload Engineering (DCWE) team connects real data center workloads to Micron's future memory and storage products. We work at the intersection of systems data and architecture generating the insights that guide long-term product decisions. This role is central to how Micron shapes next-generation SSDs for hyperscale and AI-driven data centers. You will turn real workload data and system knowledge into models that influence product direction at the highest levels. It's a hands-on high-visibility position with direct impact and close collaboration across engineering architecture and business teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design build and operate a data center-scale logical model to evaluate future SSD product scenarios
- Integrate workload data telemetry and benchmarks into performance power and cost projections
- Model hyperscaler tradeoffs across compute memory storage and interconnects to identify Micron differentiation
- Analyze AI cloud architectures and quantify the impact of Micron component choices
- Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of experience in hyperscale data centers or large cloud environments
- Hands-on software development experience in Python C/C++ or similar languages
- Strong understanding of data center system architecture including compute memory storage power and interconnects
- Experience translating complex technical analysis into executive-level recommendations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in a relevant technical field
- Experience building system- or data center-scale performance power or cost models using real data
- Background in SSD or DRAM product engineering or performance analysis
- Familiarity with simulators or system tools such as gem5 Simics SST QEMU or PCIe subsystems
- History of building internal tools adopted across teams or contributing publications or patents
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$170000.00 - $289000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role level and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors including knowledge skills experience tenure and relevant education or training. Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of industry experience in systems performance architecture or workload engineering
- Strong hands-on software development experience in Python C/C++ or similar languages
- Direct experience working with server hardware and data center platforms
- Proven experience building performance and/or power models using empirical measurement data
