You will help shape a modern technical program management organization as an individual contributor with your skills. The goal is to steer us through growth and remove barriers in the journey towards our long-term goals. You will have a unique challenge of finding agreement by creating guardrails and removing barriers to help our teams accelerate. As a cloud service provider, we build resilience into our systems to ensure service and data availability for our customers in the event of failures in system components. However, even the best systems have to have a disaster recovery plan.
We're hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager for Developer Productivity, reporting to our Head of Technical Program Management. You are a TPM with a background in Engineering Excellence and Developer Productivity.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $200,100 - $266,800
Zone B: $180,100 - $240,100
Zone C: $166,100 - $221,500
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What you'll do:
- Be a single point technical owner for standardizing tech stacks to make Atlassian developers lead the industry in productivity.
- Understand business objectives and translate them into technical systems and solutions that need to be prioritized solved in the current business environment.
- Define specific systems programs and create a plan of action for realizing those programs. Such programs could be around measurably increasing productivity.
- Use your technical understanding of Atlassian and related systems to partner with and influence engineers and architects in making progress on these problems.
- Responsible for taking a systematic approach to engineering problems. This includes: prioritizing tasks, scoping out the project, defining objectives, and making consistent progress against each of these.
- Be accountable for the success of these technical programs by managing the entire lifecycle from initiation to forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, etc.
- Manage complex dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company
- Collaborate with functions across the company to create reliable and cost-effective solutions that drive up developer satisfaction.
Your background
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of leadership experience on software teams as Development Manager or TPM
- Preferred experience with AWS
- Experience leading projects spanning multiple teams across product and platform to uplift the end to end experience of our developer experience.
- Experience creating and implement the schedule, making important decisions to keep project on track, and manage risks and dependencies
- Experienced in leading large groups to decisions by influencing without authority
- Strong experience of software development process models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
- Strong skills to evaluate product performance metrics, as well as diagnose and resolve issues.
- Experience with technical design discussions and ability to summarize complex trade-offs and options in presentation and technical documentation
- Ability to effectively represent engineering perspectives to partner organizations, product teams, and executive leadership.
- Aptitude to work across and engage individuals and teams located across multiple geographies and or cultures.
