Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced User Researcher with a strong background in quantitative research methods to join our team and play a key role in establishing and advancing research practices at our company. This individual will be responsible for driving critical research programs that will help us better understand the needs motivations and behaviors of creators influencers and our diverse community of VRChat users. The insights gathered will be instrumental in shaping our strategies for growth and expanding our reach to new audiences.The role will report into the VP of Design and will work closely with cross-functional partners across product management design data science engineering and community to drive our understanding of current and potential users and creators.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design conduct and analyze qualitative and quantitative research studies to understand user behavior preferences and trends within the VRChat ecosystem.

  • Understand motivations and segmentation of our current and potential users to help target strategies and growth toward specific audiences.

  • Triangulate data from various sources (e.g. surveys telemetry feedback) to generate actionable insights that drive product decisions and growth strategies.

  • Collaborate with designers product managers and engineers to integrate research findings into product business and design strategy.

  • Mentor and guide teammates in the use of research methods and best practices.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in research methodologies applying them to our evolving product needs.

  • Develop innovative solutions to conducting research in virtual environments.

  • Contribute to building a culture of data-driven decision-making across the company.

Experience Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant field (e.g. Psychology Human-Computer Interaction Data Science Statistics).

  • Proven experience and impact in a user research role ideally within the technology or gaming industry.

  • Strong expertise in designing conducting and analyzing surveys experiments and other quantitative research methods.

  • Experience with a range of qualitative methods such as user interviews contextual inquiry journey mapping and usability testing.

  • Proficient in statistical software (e.g. SPSS R Python) and data visualization tools.

  • Experience working on products related to virtual worlds or social platforms is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights in a clear and compelling manner to diverse audiences.

  • A proactive self-motivated attitude with a passion for understanding user behavior and improving user experiences.
