Global Technology and Operations (GTO) business has embarked on a major transformation of its technology platforms to deliver modern global financial solutions to our clients across Capital Markets, Wealth Management, and Asset Management.

We are looking for a hands-on head of engineering to drive this transformation with experience in building secure, scalable solutions that delight customers. As a foundational member of this new team, you will drive the team's long-term vision and architecture, drive/shape roadmaps, and provide technical leadership to the engineering team through "Labs"

The ideal candidate will have extensive design and architecture experience, knowledge of next-gen technologies and services, and a proven track record of building mission-critical, highly scalable systems. In addition to strong technical knowledge, you will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced start-up-like environment and is passionate about solving ambiguous, challenging problems that have not been solved before.

We are made up of high performing teams that meet in person to learn and collaborate as needed. This role is considered hybrid, which means you'll be assigned to a Broadridge office and given the flexibility to work remote.

Responsibilities

  • Work with teams to develop lean experiments & POC to prove out new technology and de-risk complex delivery
  • Work directly with clients to solutions innovation technology solutions
  • Review projects' ability to deliver robust and scalable solutions toward this vision, learning and incorporating new technologies as appropriate.
  • Build relationships with other Development Managers, Engineers, and Technical Project Managers across various GTO Teams
  • Responsible for driving towards a continuous delivery framework through the adoption of new-gen development tools and processes and implementing a continuous improvement framework
  • Participate in the architecture, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of large-scale global software applications, systems, platforms, services, or technologies.
  • Participate in Agile project management methodologies to provide technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Build, manage, and develop world-class engineers, including hiring recommendations and guiding and mentoring engineers and project managers within and outside the team.
  • Ensure high-quality design reviews which meet business and architectural goals and drive critical feedback on architecture and design issues.
  • Work with teams to develop lean experiments
  • Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business goals with the team, leadership chain, and with customers

Technology qualifications

  • BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE.
  • 10+ years of technical leadership skills, shown experience in architecting, developing, and deploying internet-scale, distributed applications
  • Experienced in scaled agile delivery and digital transformation is a must
  • Proven successful technical leadership in service-oriented architecture and containerization.
  • Experience or familiarity with Java/J2EE experience and front-end development
  • Experience in delivering Spring Boot, Microservices based scalable web applications
  • Experienced in design thinking and user-centric design
  • Experience building and scaling systems both on-premises and the cloud. Experience architecting for a hybrid cloud environment is highly desired.
  • Experience or familiarity with cloud technologies / Kubernetes / docker-based development
  • Knowledge of CI/CD frameworks.
  • Consistent record of handling sophisticated software projects and leading multi-functional teams to design and develop applications.
  • Extensive understanding of streaming messaging frameworks
  • Well-versed in API development and management
  • Experience in sophisticated production software systems that are reliable, stable, and observable.

Leadership qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively manage up, down, and cross-functionally across multiple parts of the organization
  • Strong team player with a track record of managing and scaling teams and motivating. Technical personnel in a high-growth company.
  • You can easily take an ambiguous problem and create a phased strategy to address it.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop other engineers & technologists
  • Startup attitude, ownership, and the right balance of quality and sense of urgency.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly motivated individual to lead projects from feasibility to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills are required. Ability to communicate optimally, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical multi-functional teams
