Principle Robotics Engineer IV - The Toro Company

Job Purpose:

Specify, develop and support for software-centric products, tools, and future autonomous product technology. Role will center on Linux based development for a plethora of platforms initially will be PC based. Support the manufacturing process for software and complete installation as required. Support the process for post-sale support in regards to software upgrades. New technology development for future applications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• The job portfolio exists to support auxiliary software efforts of the business unit software and electronics engineering team namely internal and external tools needed by Toro technical stall, customer support, test, manufacturing, and our distributor and customer base.
• Facilitate portfolio activities with engineering outside partner(s). Examples into manufacturing line engineering, IT, Customer Care and CTRI.
• Support engineering software personal with specific jobs or specialty skills not typically found in the software engineering team (e.gNET, Android/IOS, Linux, ROS).
• Provide redundancy and backup to engineering staff in high-critical technical knowledge areas.
• Document above software technology product efforts as required by internal processes. Includes product and tool requirement capture, design, test, and process documentation.
• Use specific common and Toro methodologies for develop including but not limited to Agile/SCRUM, waterfall, rapid prototype, etc.
• Other duties as apparent or assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Four year college, or 2-year technical degree with software or technical emphasis. Bachelor degree in a related discipline with demonstrated competency.

• Eight years of experience, preferably in the manufacturing/engineering/software applications industry
• Proven ability to plan and execute all aspects of software development.
• Strong partnerships with internal engineering customers, customer care, engineering and mechatronics test, I.T. staff, outside contractor(s), and Toro's R&D group.
• Demonstrated exceptionally high level of competency in creativity, productivity, and decision making over an extended period of time through successful completion of projects. Must have recognition for at least two significant successful projects.
• Required portfolio languages include C, C++, C#, .NET, Android/IOS (Xamarin), and associated support and scripting languages (i.e. Python, etc.)
• Proven skills with relational databases, especially SQL Server

Other Job-Related Components:

• Provide, where necessary, Toro tool database support
• Partner with TTC I.T. personnel where appropriate.
• Partner with other division personnel utilizing business unit engineering product and tools.
• Provide automation programming and scripting support for other software engineering applications (e.g. automated software build sessions, unit testing, etc)
• Manage administration duties of some software development tools (JIRA, SVN, GIT, etc.)
