Job Summary

The Privacy Analyst assists in executing the HealthPlan Services (HPS) Compliance and Privacy Program by assessing business policies, procedures and operations to ensure the organization meets privacy requirements and government regulations for the protection of critical data and information. Duties include but are not limited to: Monitoring and oversight of the Privacy Program; testing and evaluation of internal control systems; and provide assistance and/or develop privacy training for associates so they can better manage privacy protection and mitigate risks related to the unauthorized access of sensitive information. The Privacy Analyst performs special projects as requested by the Compliance and Privacy Officer and/or Privacy Manager.

Role and Responsibility

  • Conduct proactive monitoring and investigation to detect and address privacy issues and interact with appropriate individuals to ensure timely resolution
  • Assist in establishing and executing processes to audit, monitor, detect, and enforce the privacy program.
  • Draft, evaluate, update, and collaborate on policies, procedures, and training to ensure they reflect current regulatory requirements
  • Analyze regulatory information and provide guidance to applicable departments and individuals, as needed.
  • Coordinate with the IT and Information Security to ensure compliance with relevant security laws and regulations.
  • Work with the Privacy Manager to implement privacy training and awareness programs.
  • Develop and update newsletters and marketing material.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring and detection of business associates and related privacy contracts.
  • Monthly reporting of Privacy Program metrics to the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer and/or Compliance Committee.
Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Assist in the implementation and enhancement of the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Program.
  • Active participant in regulatory and compliance related conference calls and meetings.
  • Actively promotes a culture of compliance and ethical behavior.
  • Provides research of State and Federal regulations as requested by various operational areas of HPS.
  • Assist with maintenance of Compliance and Privacy SharePoint site including resource library.
  • Maintenance of the compliance evidence in SharePoint, shared folders and other required tools.
  • Assist with External Client Audits and assessments, including audit reports and communications.
  • Develop and execute audit programs for specific audit projects throughout the year.
  • Actively manage workflow and complete tasks in accordance with set deadlines and expectations.
  • Assist with responses and submission of reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate compliance with Company policies, i.e. code of ethics and standards of conduct, agency sales, contractual obligations and governmental regulations, etc.
  • Additional duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by department head and Privacy Manager.
Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare compliance and privacy.
  • Knowledge of federal and state security and privacy-related regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate practical, real world, collaborative approach to problem-solving with the ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent work planning, project management and time management skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize effectively in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Visio, etc.)
