What You'll Do
Principal is searching for a Privacy Manager to join the Enterprise Privacy Office in support of our businesses. You'll be part of a growing enterprise privacy team working together to ensure we earn and retain the trust of our customers and employees every day. In this position, you'll work closely with business partners in Principal offices to maintain privacy compliance. Serve as a privacy advisor to the enterprise. Member of the enterprise privacy team responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to the organization's data privacy program in compliance with federal and state laws.
Here's how you will spend your day:
- Develop, implement and maintain enterprise privacy policies, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations. Provide thought leadership and represent privacy throughout the project management life-cycle to ensure Privacy by Design principles are implemented during the planning, design, and implementation of business initiatives. Assist in the implementation of privacy technologies and workflows to enable program success. Initiate, facilitate and promote activities to cultivate information privacy awareness across the enterprise.
- Coordinate the network of Privacy Contacts throughout the enterprise. Assist in identifying appropriate resources to fill Privacy Contact roles, develop and maintain Privacy Contact resources and materials, provide onboarding training for new Privacy Contacts, and facilitate regular training and collaboration opportunities for the Privacy Contact network.
- Monitor developments in federal and state privacy laws, and regulations. Participate in privacy conferences, continuing education, and industry associations to provide benchmarking and standard processes for the enterprise privacy program.
- Ensure compliance in Principal's U.S. business with company privacy practices and procedures and relevant privacy and security laws and regulations. Administer processes for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on and incidents concerning data privacy in coordination and collaboration with senior business leadership, Chief Privacy Officer, Compliance Officer, legal counsel and other entities as applicable.

Who You Are
- You'll have a Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent work experience.
- You'll have 2+ years of financial privacy experience
- You'll have a strong background in incident management experience
- You'll have excellent time management, project management, integration, facilitation, planning, decision making, problem solving and written and verbal communication skills
- You'll be highly analytical
- You'll be able to work with people at all levels, including outside consultants and vendors and be able to influence others without formal authority
- You can build and maintain relationships and facilitate collaboration and communication
- You'll be results oriented and able to adapt and deal with ambiguous and/or complex situations and handle expectations
- You can maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- You can work effectively in a matrix management environment
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$77400 - $147600 / year

Location
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
