The Team You’ll Work With

The Carta Liquidity team is looking for creative problem solvers to work on a greenfield initiative to build a marketplace for private securities. The team you will be joining is tasked with building a platform to help investors, founders, and employees transact in private securities.

As a Private Capital Markets Associate you’ll be responsible for contributing to products and services for and engaging with investors on Carta Liquidity. Specifically, you will support the sourcing, cultivation and maintenance of institutional investor relationships, and the generation of deal flow for the marketplace. The ideal candidate has outstanding organizational and technical skills, a foundational understanding of private equity markets, and the ability to independently steer internal business projects. 

You will partner closely with senior members of our go-to-market team to manage investor relationships, track clients, and execute secondary transactions. You will be expected to enhance operational efficiencies, track business metrics, provide research and insights, contribute to strategic projects, and generate assets for engagement with clients and prospects concerning their broader capital markets needs. You will work within a dynamic and cohesive team that collaborates across product and engineering, data science, legal, compliance, and technology.

The Problems You’ll Solve
  • Build and sustain relationships with internal and external clients by understanding needs and providing solutions.
  • Plan and contribute to the strategic expansion of Carta Liquidity’s investor coverage base.
  • Enhance and maintain client databases and business metrics.
  • Identify and develop data-driven tools to increase internal and external efficiencies in the private secondary markets.
  • Help prepare, review, and deliver deal-related materials to execute investor and company-sponsored transactions.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of liquidity transactions and a high level of customer service.
  • Develop new creative ideas and recommendations for product offerings, including market insights and investor relations, and identify cross-product opportunities.
About You
  • 2+ years of experience in a finance or business background, particularly on the client facing side, with experience in private placements, sales and trading, or capital markets advisory
  • Expertise in fundamental analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment with minimal supervision.
  • Rigorous eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.
  • Impeccable research, quantitative and analytical skills, especially in explaining market events.
  • Strong project management and presentation skills.
  • Ability to implement efficient processes and organize, track and prioritize overlapping tasks and assignments.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, Bloomberg, Factset, Capital IQ, or other data service provider.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Working knowledge of cap tables.
  • Series 7 and 63 a plus
