SCS Investment Partners (“SCS IP”) is the asset management group of SCS Financial (“SCS”), one of the nation’s largest multi-family offices overseeing $30 billion in assets under management with offices in Boston, New York, Providence, and Los Angeles. SCS is focused on delivering top-performing alternative investment solutions to Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), family offices, and ultra-high-net-worth investors. Since inception, SCS has deployed over $12 billion across private equity, venture capital, private credit, private real assets, and hedge fund strategies through funds that have consistently ranked in the top quartile when compared to peers across vintages, a testament to the firm’s storing industry experience and execution.
SCS IP, a fast-growing and entrepreneurial group within the firm, provides institutional clients access to SCS’s alternative investment strategies. To date, this has primarily been to RIAs and Single-Family Offices in the United States. Leveraging the broad resources and talented team of the broader firm (120+ professionals), SCS IP builds strategic partnerships with these institutions to help them access investment strategies and services that fit their unique needs.
Role:
We're looking for a dynamic and driven Business Development professional to join our SCS Investment Partners team. This individual will play a crucial role in generating and qualifying leads, conducting initial meetings, coordinating the resources of the firm to close new business, and nurturing long-term partnerships. The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, ready to make a significant impact on our rapidly growing new business effort. The candidate should be an excellent communicator, possess a deep fluency in alternative and private investment strategies, and be willing to travel, primarily within the United States.
Primary Responsibilities:Â
- Lead Generation and Sales Closure
- Identify potential prospects within the RIA space and beyond, leveraging market knowledge and networking skills.
- Qualify potential investors based on the strategic fit with our alternative investment solutions.
- Conduct initial meetings with potential investors, clearly articulating the value proposition of our investment strategies and services.
- Coordinate internal resources efficiently and effectively to convert leads into successful sales.
- Oversee the sales pipeline, ensuring a seamless transition from prospective to committed investor.
- Facilitate “re-ups” to new vintages and expansion into new strategies for existing investors by ensuring timely and effective communication around upcoming investment opportunities and their rollout.
- Business Partnership Development
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with our key partners in the RIA industry, including Focus Financial Partners, CAIS, Schwab, Fidelity, and Addepar, among others.
- Leverage these partnerships to increase lead generation, enhance our understanding of market trends, and gain insights to improve sales processes.
- Regularly engage with these partners to ensure we're fully leveraging their capabilities and offerings.
- Actively participate in industry events and forums, representing the firm and further strengthening these partnerships.
- Identify and evaluate potential new distribution partners and platforms.
- Product Knowledge and Communication
- Maintain deep knowledge and understanding of our private investment strategies and products across Private Equity (Buyouts, Venture, Growth Equity, and Co-Investments), Private Credit, Private Real Assets, and Hedge Funds.
- Tailor the presentation of our investment products according to the unique needs and interests of potential investors.
- Work closely with the firm's internal teams to stay updated on product development and investment performance.
- Market Research and Analysis
- Continuously monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes that could impact our sales strategy and product offering.
- Use this knowledge to inform our sales approach and product development.
- CRM Management
- Regularly update and maintain the CRM system, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Use the CRM to analyze sales data, track performance metrics, and generate insightful reports to inform business development strategies.
- Train and support other team members on the effective use of the CRM system.
- Sales Reporting and Forecasting
- Regularly report on sales activity and performance against set targets.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts to inform strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:Â
- Significant experience in the sales of private investment strategies such as private equity, venture capital, and/or private credit (10-15 years experience preferred, although strong candidates with more or less years will be considered). Experience selling into the RIA community preferred, but not necessary.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, as well as experience in creating and implementing strategic sales plans around different alternative fund vehicles.
- Deep fluency in alternative investment strategies and the dynamics of private investment fund vehicles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to express complex ideas succinctly.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of working independently and managing shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in CRM design and management, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics and/or Salesforce.
- Experience working with the RIA community a plus but not required.
- Willingness to travel regularly, primarily within the United States, for prospect meetings, industry events, and networking.
- Ideally based in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, or Providence. Remote work arrangements will also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated track record of academic success. A CFA is encouraged but not required.
