Private Markets Analyst /Associate Director; Funds and Co-Investments

Job Summary

Barings is seeking a private markets professional to join its Funds and Co-Investment ("FCI") team. The candidate will be responsible for the support of origination, underwriting, closing and monitoring of a portfolio of private equity and real asset funds, secondaries and co-investments. The position will be located in Barings' Charlotte, NC office or El Segundo, CA office.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibilities are focused around underwriting strong investments and supporting growth and development of FCI's private markets platform.
  • Investment activities include:
    • Origination: Support efforts for origination for funds, co-investment, secondaries and GP solutions (NAV loans, preferred loans and continuation vehicles) opportunities for US and European private markets
    • Investment: Support due diligence of private equity and real asset opportunities; primary funds, secondary funds, direct equity co-investments and GP solutions sponsored by qualified private market managers and independent sponsors
    • Monitoring: Post-investment investment monitoring. Maintain relationships with existing sponsors and market participants (e.g. advisors).
  • Candidate will be an integral member of the FCI team and work with senior members of the investment team in the underwriting and analysis of new investments
  • Candidate will develop a deep understanding of the FCI business and be able to articulate that knowledge internally and externally
  • Candidate will have the ability to support senior team around dynamic functions within the group, including client management and business development activities
  • Candidate must have ability to prioritize and multi-task in a changing environment with a high degree of independence, initiative, responsibility, and accountability


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 2-7 years in private markets experience
  • Developed corporate finance analytical skills
  • Presentation capabilities and refined verbal and written communications skills
  • A high degree of proficiency and adaptability with various software including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with high-level executives and investors
  • Ability and willingness to travel
