Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
Job SummaryÂ
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated early career individuals with an interest in instrumentation and controls for nuclear reactors with the possibility of continuing onto a permanent role within the team. This position would work in the instrumentation and controls team on projects that support the development of KP-FHR controls. This position would include control narratives, software development, instrumentation, etc. Contributions from this work directly supports Kairos Power's mission to enable the worlds transition to clean energy.
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Consolidate and compile the IO list based on all process subsystem requirements and P&ID.
- Review Piping and Instrument Diagrams
- Review electrical single line diagrams
- Provide feedback where improvement opportunities or gap(s) are identified in protocolsÂ
- Collaborate cross functionally with other teams/engineers on planning and execution of tasks
- Gather and analyze data and information in support of instrument research.
QualificationsÂ
- Current student pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
- Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with cross-functional teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office application (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word) and other software systems
- Proficiency in programming for controls implementation
- Experience with a project or classwork related to the industrial controls preferredÂ

The salary range for this position is $28-32 per hour for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
