Process Development Engineer

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Process Development Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position will be a part of the powder team for developing new powder process and scaling up to mass production. Process Development Engineer will be responsible for process development and design to produce high quality solid electrolytes. 

Job Duties:

•  Independently plan, execute, and analyze design of experiments and effectively communicate results to targeted and broader audiences.
• Write statistical programs in Minitab or JMP to determine if data sets and trials are statistically different or similar.
• Support running lab or pilot scale plants to validate process and product qualification. 
•  Process flow sheeting with commercial simulation software.
• Participate in design reviews, product, and process FMEA's and development processes.
• Technology scouting and upscaling of the process towards Mass Production
• Deliver required process documentation towards process development and engineering. 
• Assist Process Hazard Analysis and implement the appropriate layers of safety procedure to comply OSHA and PSM standards.

Qualifications/Requirements:

•  BS degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or a related field of study
• Minimum 3 years of industrial experience in the materials production environment
• Strong process development & engineering skills (process data analysis, root cause analysis, PFMEA, DOE)
• Direct experience in implementing process development and engineering to materials manufacturing facilities.
• Interpersonal skills in developing positive working relations with other employees.
• Willingness to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced start-up environment.
• Proficiency in statistics software packages (JMP, Minitab) and process simulation tools
• U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Salary Range: $61,000 - $98,000/year
