The Opportunity:
Factorial is seeking a driven and innovative Process Engineer to join our dedicated team, specializing in the advancement of battery technology through the creation of innovative manufacturing processes. In this role, you will play a crucial role in the development of cutting-edge processes related to cell formation, cell performance enhancement, data trend analysis, and the design of custom processes and equipment. In this role, you will:
- Create and conduct basic feasibility studies to determine pathways for innovative cell formation processes
- Develop innovative manufacturing techniques that aid in the establishment of a production pilot line
- Evaluate process data to determine failure modes and identify opportunities to improve
- Continuously improve current processes, develop new processes, define quality metrics, and product/process validation requirements
- Interpret data trends to inform process adjustments, troubleshoot challenges, and guide decision-making
- Demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
We are looking for people with:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical/Material Engineering
- 0-5 years of experience in process development and engineering for battery manufacturing
- Familiarity with standard procedures for lithium-ion battery formation and testing apparatus
- Demonstrate ability with mechanical design and manufacturing process optimization
- A passion for understanding processes and the interaction between materials, equipment, and product performance
- Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Robust interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
