At Pixelligent, we’re searching for a Process Engineer.
Summary
As an important member of the Pixelligent team, the Process Engineer is responsible for helping to drive development and growth through new product and process design, technology scaling, equipment selection, and process and product optimization in support of the company’s goals for cost, quality and delivery. This hands-on position will also deal with problems arising in the manufacturing process involving chemical reactions, processes, equipment and machinery. Likely tools employed will be Process Hazards Assessment, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, and Lean Manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities
- Utilize chemical engineering knowledge and experience to provide guidance to others regarding best practices in chemical manufacturing operations.
- Identification, selection, design, and qualification of new equipment, materials and processes in support of process scaling and new product introduction.
- Transfer of chemical production from R&D to the pilot plant and from the pilot plant to our contract manufacturers (CMOs).
- Provide technical leadership for CMO production line design, construction, commissioning, optimization, and problem solving
- Proactively identify process quality, cost and safety improvement opportunities and execute plans for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for developing and executing maintenance plans, equipment modifications, contractor management, etc.
- Establish and or improve process controls in the factory.
- Anticipate and/or address manufacturing quality excursions using formal root cause investigation methodologies.
- Author material and process specification and provide training as necessary for effected individuals.
- Support Change Management using the Quality Management System.
- Provides mentoring, project leadership and/or supervision of engineering team members
Required Education & Experience
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree is required in Chemical Engineering or related field. Masters preferred
- 1+ years of direct experience with process support for batch or continuous chemical production.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Experience engineering processes with hazardous materials.
- Experience with Process Safety Management
- Proven skills in process improvement and project management.
- Basic Knowledge of Federal and State regulations required. Experience interpreting OSHA, EPA, IBC, and NFPA codes and regulation preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and drafting software. Experience with chemical modeling software such as CHEMCAD or ASPEN is a plus
- Strong organizational, people and communication skills.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
Desired Skills & Abilities
- Experience in explosion-proof environments.
- Experience with high temperature/pressure reactions.
- Experience with interpreting 40CFR RCRA and TSCA and 29CFR.1910.
- Direct design and installation experience of common chemical manufacturing unit operations: reaction, distillation, drying, centrifugation, or filtration.
- Capital improvement and manufacturing cost estimation experience
- Previous experience working with contract manufacturers
- Previous experience in overseas manufacturing
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
