Job Description

The Role      

 The Process Improvement Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing advancements for the business across the Green Thumb Supply Chain.  The PI Manager will execute each project following Early Management methodology to ensure a vertical startup and streamlined integration for new facility expansions and new process implementation.   This role delivers projects that eliminate loss, enable sustainable increases in throughput, and build capability in all levels from the operating floor to executive leadership. This role will own all capabilities, methodology, and tools related to Lean TPM implementation and be responsible for its effective implementation and measurement across the network.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the architect, engineer, and teacher for the design and implementation of Operational Excellence for future and existing facilities.
  • Work with Engineering on strategic solution development (Equipment & Process)
  • Coordinate EM activities throughout entire project
  • Work cross functional between sales/marketing, construction, and facilities team.
  • Reduce waste and improve operational efficiencies through the execution of labor, space, and inventory restructuring.
  • Evaluate plant/facility performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop improvement strategy based on resource prioritized by site General Managers.
  • Routinely visits regional sites to support and coach new tool/process implementation with the creation of model work groups. Enabling capability and foundation development for self-directed work teams.
  • Build systems and standard work that enables the production team to take ownership and accountability.
  • Support value added development of tiered meeting structures. Define and implement a standardized Daily Direction Setting (DDS) process that cascades from site GM level to shiftily floor level. Lead/facilitate regular team meetings to identify actions required to realize goals.
  • Create repeatable, visual Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) system to execute from leadership to floor level. Ensure PDCA is the driving mechanism to scorecard/action plan reviews and embedded as part of gap analysis to assess and track KPIs.
  • Ensures constant updates are provided to the VP of Production, Director – Process Improvement and General Managers on the status of projects and improvement efforts in the facilities.
  • Promote a diverse, enthusiastic, and creative work environment that motivates the operations teams to develop skills and continue to use tools and processes implemented by PI team.
  • Support the compliance of regulatory, quality, and customer requirements.

Experience & Qualifications:   

  • Bachelors degree preferably in Engineering or other STEM field
  • 7+ years of progressive operations leadership and continuous improvement experience in FDA regulated academy CPG/Food & Beverage manufacturing companies with systems and methodologies including TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing project management skills working with cross functional teams at all levels, from plant to corporate, which has contributed to building a high-performance organization.
  • Successful track record of developing talent, building culture and championing diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, teach, mentor and train.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced start-up environment, where one must simplify the complex and improve historical ways of operating.
  • Highly professional, high level of ethics and integrity; accepts accountability for results; works with a sense of urgency.
  • Strategic agility, ability to deal with ambiguity and strong business acumen.
  • Humble team player, servant leader type, who can “roll up the sleeves” and inspire trust and confidence in subordinates, peers and superiors to achieve the highest standard of performance in a dynamic environment. 
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Well-developed financial and business acumen and proven capabilities to lead in a complex, multi-product business.
  • Cannabis experience preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • In compliance with industry requirements, all candidates must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be approved by state badging agencies to work in cannabis industry.

 Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 75 pounds (200 pounds with assistance)
  • This role will require extensive travel of up to 3 to 4 days per week to support sites across the enterprise during project implementation.
