Job Summary
The Procurement Consultant will be responsible for developing, maintaining and delivering on a category management strategy. The Procurement Consultant will also be responsible for interpreting, drafting and negotiating contracts which include SaaS agreements, MSAs, SOWs, and licensing agreements, among others. In this role the Procurement Consultant will negotiate pricing and terms to drive value and mitigate risk. The Procurement Consultant will be responsible for the facilitation of complex RFPs. This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish job responsibilities and goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Executes the RFP process, solution selection and negotiations to achieve the desired results
- Collaborates with VMO office to ensure risk evaluation is complete prior to contracting
- Develops strong relationships with business partners to influence outcomes
- Understands and interprets the provisions and terms of contracts; collaborates with Legal and other SMEs as necessary to ensure interpretation accuracy and to resolve escalated issues
- Prepares and maintains contracts with service providers in accordance with company standards
- Negotiates contractual terms, pricing, and deliverables to mitigate risk and maximize value
- Leads in the development and execution of category negotiation strategies with suppliers
- Develops strategic category objectives and goals with defined plans for cost savings and risk assessment
- Analyzes vendor spend and suggests improvements for negotiating and leveraging contracts
- Addresses all areas of category management and consults with function leaders to understand sourcing strategy and execution to achieve optimal business outcomes
- Partners with Finance to outline potential value and ROI for proposed initiatives and tracking results
- Assists with implementation of Procurement platform
- Acts as point of advice, support and guidance to departments and individuals for collaborating with Procurement
- Manges contract database and collaborates with business partners to ensure a timely renewal or termination
- Posses knowledge of vendor management process and supports vendor management initiatives
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required
- 4+ years of sourcing or contract negotiation experience required
- 2+ years of category management experience required
- Prior experience in reviewing and editing vendor contracts, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, etc.
- Knowledge of various procurement categories (software, hardware, professional services, consulting, marketing etc.) required
- Demonstrated knowledge in contract management, negotiation, vendor performance management, and strategic procurement process required
- Ability to conduct complex RFPs across multiple business units required
- Experience with implementing new software platform into established work environment preferred
