The mission of the Procurement Manager is to lead and manage a team of professional buyers, providing exceptional customer service in terms of response time, cost savings, and quality of work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent leadership to entire team of buyers and to internal and external Supply Chain Solution clients.
- Work closely with assigned buyers or take lead on difficult, hard to source material requests.
- Track team performance using metrics and feedback from internal and external customers, including service levels and savings.
- Provide leadership to fleet teams, serving as single point of contact for their programs, tracking action items and feedback to ensure excellent customer service.
- Monitor procurement queue on an on-going basis, moving and assigning resources to address spikes in requirements or delayed response.
- Lead regularly scheduled calls with buyers.
- Schedule buyers for holiday and weekend coverage.
- Provide input to forecasting and stocking decisions for parts.
- Maintain regular communication with and provide pro-active status updates to Technical Advisors, Product Line Representatives, and Supply Chain Solution customers.
- Become an expert on internal processes and systems.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance for both Hourly Cost Maintenance and Supply Chain Solution performance.
- Establish, maintain and report metrics on cost savings.
- Prepare Monthly Activity Report identifying cost saving, buyer activity, vendor activity, etc.
- Manage team of buyers, including:
- Completing performance reviews.
- Scheduling PTO and coverage during PTO
- Managing AOG rotation schedule
- Perform buying duties 50% of the time:
- Source parts to fill demands from purchase requisitions, Aircraft on Ground (AOG) orders, Requests for Information (RFI), etc.
- Create competitive Requests for Quote (RFQ) and/or negotiate prices with suppliers to obtain best available prices while
- maintaining configuration, quality and delivery requirements.
- Create purchase orders and repair orders for all Supply Chain Solution customers, Trust accounts, JSSI Inc., and JSSI Parts.
- Create and track purchase orders and expedite them through Salesforce/AMS/AvSight/Traxxall to maintain a closed loop status
- interface with Technical Advisors and Supply Chain Solution customers with regard to parts requirements.
- Follow parts through the system to make sure parts costs are transacted to the correct project and that all costs associated are
- billed accordingly to the clients.
- Assure parts are delivered in a timely manner to meet schedule requirements and meet the appropriate quality and life limits.
- Participate in an AOG on-call or shift rotation to support afterhours critical requests.
- Search for and maintain knowledge of parts availability within the aviation industry through existing and future vendor
- selections.
- Establish supplier performance metrics, monitor performance and evaluate suppliers on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Establish, maintain and report metrics on cost savings.
- Work 10 AM to 7:30 PM Central time. Working times may be changed at management discretion.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of High School Diploma or GED and 5 years’ experience in aviation related procurement and inventory control
- 3 years of experience leading or managing people.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays on rotation.
- Experience working in a high pressure, fast pace environment working Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.
- Business Aviation purchasing experience
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to find hard-to-source parts.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients
- Ability to solve problems and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to generate reports using Microsoft Excel or Word
- Critical thinking skills
- Experience using systems for inventory control and purchasing, preferably AvSight/Salesforce
- Domestic and international travel may be required for this position
- Fixed wing product knowledge, which could include Pratt, Honeywell, or Rolls Royce engines, Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer, Textron, or Cessna.
- Helicopter product knowledge, which could include Airbus, Sikorsky, Bell or Leonardo, as well as related engines.
