We are looking for a committed Linux Server Administrator/Integration Engineer to join our team to support critical data analytics systems for the Department of Justice and Department of Defense customers. This position requires the willingness to travel to DC a couple of times a year. Large amounts of real-time data requires careful management and analysis in order to support and aid these important missions. Our team is seeking those who are excited to advance technology, develop unique strategies, and are capable of pushing forward through challenges to accomplish one of RII’s most successful core values, Get s#it done.

This role requires an ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Maintaining data analytics systems on Linux and Windows servers in development, test and production environments
  • Monitoring system performance, security, data integrity and data availability
  • Working with analysts to load large amounts of data and information related to major criminal investigations, and/or military activities using a variety of specialized tools
  • Collaborating with client infrastructure team and vendor support to ensure new features are smoothly installed and any issues are rapidly resolved
  • Managing monitoring, alerting, and response system capabilities while keeping current with industry and new solutions that may integrate with program systems
  • Implementing and maintaining contingency plans, including file backups and recovery
  • Implementing and maintaining incident response plans
  • Capturing, analyzing, and utilizing an effective system of software and user performance metrics, data capture, and management
  • Implementing log capture and utilizing data from system logs
  • Utilizing security management capabilities. Monitoring and maintaining awareness of user access logging, privilege management among development, testing, and production environments, and help ensure a secure and DoJ and/or DoD compliant service and system architecture
  • Implementing and utilizing production change and compliance management systems covering hardware life cycle, system updates, software and security patching, and technology roadmaps
  • Maintaining a suite of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support production operations appropriate to existing or anticipated failure modes that expertly document responses to system failure issues. Build failure triggers and pre-create responses where possible. This includes critical back-up and restore mechanisms
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring cloud computing and big data environments based on many open source and commercial products

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

  • 5+ year’s experience with Linux (CentOS or Red Hat) system administration in a production environment
  • 2+ year’s experience managing Windows Servers in a production environment
  • Earned a Security+ or other DoD 8140 / ISO 17024 compliant certification
  • Conducted system performance and file integrity monitoring
  • Managed user issue identification, reporting, tracking and feedback functions
  • Escalated user issues based on trends or alerts
  • Conducted vulnerability scanning, mitigation, and reporting functions
  • Developed scripts using bash and Python
  • Utilized industry best practices for Run Time Configuration Management
  • Government production environment experience is a must

EVEN BETTER

  • Experience working with Law Enforcement and/or intelligence analysis
  • Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) experience
  • Experience in data analytics systems
  • Information Security experience and certifications (NIDS, HIDS, Auditing, Incident Response)
  • Experience managing database systems such as MS SQL Server, Postgres in production
  • Experience with public cloud environments such as AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Experience with JSON and XML file formats
  • Supported plans for security and cyber attack mitigation
  • Experience with GIS platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS Portal or Geoserver
