Responsibilities:
Take full ownership from conception to publish of editorial video projects as assigned by Managing Producer, including but not limited to:
- Always-on content
- Original series
- Sponsored editorial content
- Events and Summits
- Social videos
- Teaser/Trailers and Sizzle reels
- Work directly with newsroom Reporters and Editors to source subjects, craft story, message, and final product
- Coordinate with Edit Ops and Legal to ensure all necessary fact-check and legal reviews have taken place prior to publication
- Work with Managing Producer and EP, Video to develop, pilot, and execute original content
- Work with Creative Director and assigned Director/Editor to build creative for all assigned projects
- Manage all matters related to video production & logistics on assigned projects, including but not limited to:
- Scheduling of resources (crew, equipment, talent/subjects)
- Booking travel
- Creating and distributing call sheets
- Renting equipment
- On-set management
- Conducting interviews
- Research, initial outreach, communication with, and booking of talent/subjects before, during and after shoots
- Write scripts, select soundbites and work with Video Editor to craft final story
- Coordinate with Senior Video Director and Motion Designer to assign and create all necessary graphics
- Create SOW’s for contractors and route executed documents to legal in accordance with their specifications
- Occasionally shoot and edit as needed
- Work across several productions simultaneously
- Maintain database of vetted freelancers (DP, Editor, Producer) and engage them when necessary, only after discussion and approval by Managing Producer
- Manage all pre-production, production, post-production, and publishing logistics and deliverables for assigned projects
- Ensure proper media management for all staff and contract crew
The ideal candidate:
- This a hybrid role requiring on site presence at our Jersey City Office, Forbes summits and events.Weekly schedules will vary depending on the needs of the business. It is our expectation that you will be based in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area.
- 3-5+ Years of experience producing editorial video in a fast-paced, digital publishing environment
- A demonstrable history of creating high quality video, involved from concept through delivery
- Possesses a strong sense of story and has experience collaborating with a newsroom
- A highly collaborative work ethic and the ability to compromise without compromising quality
- Extremely organized to the point of multiple simultaneous projects being second nature
- The ability to create high production value even with small budgets
- Unflappable under pressure with tight deadlines
- Well versed in social media on all relevant platforms
- Ambitious to constantly evolve with the media zeitgeist
- A freelancer network of DP’s, editors, animators and below-the-line crew in many cities in the U.S. and globally
- Ability to edit in Premiere Pro and shoot with current camera technology (A7Sii, C300, C100, FS7, etc.) is a real plus
- Travel required on an as-needed basis (approximately 1-2x/month)
The annual base salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000
Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith. The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate. In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally.
