The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters was recently named a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace, and we are currently looking for a Product Analyst - Intern to join our Product Development team. As a product analyst intern with Thomson Reuters, you will make an immediate impact on how our clients accomplish their work. In this role, you will participate in the design, development, documentation and testing of our payroll products. In addition, you will collect, analyze, and prioritize requirements from various entities including external taxing authorities and our internal sources - all in an effort to provide the most reliable payroll tax software in the industry.

Details about the Summer 2023 Product Analyst Intern Program:

  • Dates/Schedule: The internship is 11 weeks (Monday - Friday), May 30th, 2023, to late August 18th, 2023.
  • This is a Paid, Full-time (40 hours per week) Internship.
  • Location: The Internship will be based at our corporate office in the renowned, high-tech, and culturally diverse area of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

About the Role

In the role of the Product Analyst team and a member of the Product Development team, you will:

  • Work with a cross-functional team using agile methodologies to document user requirements and create new feature designs.
  • Research user requirements and related industry standards, evaluate competitor products, and identify new potential functionality.
  • Analyze compliance forms and related laws to ensure our software is kept current.
  • Work closely with software engineers to implement design decisions.
  • Create and implement test plans on an ongoing basis. Fully test and verify that the product complies with all functional specifications and exceeds user requirements.
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with other developers, other departments, and external/internal customers to ensure priorities are on target.
  • Communicate on an ongoing basis with our Technical Communications and Product Support teams.

About You

You are a fit for the role of the Product Analyst intern if your background includes:

  • Enrolled in a 4-year bachelor's degree program for accounting, business, or computer science at the junior or senior level
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude for learning and understanding technology and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with meeting scheduled deadlines in a high energy, high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task projects in an effective and productive manner.
  • Working knowledge of software development methodology and software industry experience a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of Windows and/or Web systems and user interface design guidelines a plus.
