Job Description

Eaton's Electrical Division is currently seeking Lead Product Application Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Wilsonville, OR. Relocation assistance and sponsorship will be provided within the United States only.

Position Overview:

This position will execute engineering/technical, sales, and customer service functions in support of the established goals for the Portland Power Center operation. They will provide applications engineering for product line support - this includes, but is not limited to product development, engineering designs, providing direction to designers and collaboration with direct customers.

In this function you will:
  • Maintain Production Schedule, delegate and prioritize engineering tasks to meet Profit Plan and OTP.
  • Interpret purchaser switchgear specifications while assessing their application to provide job quotations.
  • Translate incoming order information into bills-of-material and CAD drawings, including control schematics and wiring diagrams, understandable by engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Consult with customers as well as plant and field sales personnel in defining new equipment applications; consult with engineering technicians, manufacturing, and purchasing in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser's requirements.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing during switchgear production and assist shop employees and testers on technical issues.
  • Lead team meetings, delegate and maintain accountability of engineering group to complete tasks
  • Drive engineering continuous improvement actions to increase productivity and quality
  • Ensure compliance as well as maintain knowledge in all local and national electrical codes and standards.
  • Analyze field problems that may require research into product and application history.
  • Coordinate with other Eaton plants on market strategy, forecast, and best practices.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Three (3) years of engineering experience (including internships)
  • Relocation Assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside of a 50-mile radius of Wilsonville, OR.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Five (5) years of engineering experience
  • Experience designing and applying power distribution equipment and controls
  • Understanding of protective relay applications, PLC controls, and NEC Code requirements
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience in control systems, sensors, wireless connectivity, SW/FW/HW design and development
