Product Control - Valuation Specialist

About the Position
Weβre currently looking for someone with a valuation background to join our Accounting team. The Valuation Specialist will work closely with our Financial Reporting team, as well as Operations and Trading, to handle the execution and logistics of firm-wide valuation efforts.
The person in this role will help centralize and organize our valuation capabilities, serving as a go-to specialist for employees across offices and desks. Other responsibilities of this role will include things like:Β
- Assisting in the preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly profit and loss analyses for the firm
- Conducting ongoing price verification procedures to appropriately value inventory
- Assessing new trades for appropriate valuation, accounting treatment, and disclosure in financial statements
- Working with the Operations team to ensure all books are accurate and appropriately marked
This role provides a great introduction to Jane Streetβs accounting function and the larger operations of the firm. About You
- 8-10 years of experience at a bank or financial institution in a product control or valuation role
- Deep knowledge of accounting rules and how they pertain to valuations and securities
- Motivated self-starter who can handle competing priorities
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; able to work on problems that rarely have clean, definitive answers
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Curious about the operations of the firm and how your role fits into the bigger picture
- Strong relationship-building, written, and verbal communication skills; able to communicate ideas clearly to various stakeholders
- Accounting, economics, or finance degree preferred, but not required
- CPA or CFA preferred, but not required
- Fluency in English required
