Product Counsel

About the role:

We are seeking an outstanding product attorney and leader with 7+ years of experience in Adtech, privacy, and intellectual property counseling to join our dynamic legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, we are looking for a leader in this role to help the legal department establish and execute on a strategies and processes that are designed to support scalable growth and build trust with customers. 

As the company grows, this person will also build out and lead the product and IP legal function at Moloco.  As product counsel, you will be responsible for advising on a wide variety of product development matters, including building out our product-privacy practice.  Working with the General Counsel, you will also architect, implement, and fine-tune our IP portfolio strategy.  

This is a unique opportunity to be one of the founding members of Moloco’s legal team and will help structure the product and IP legal team for future growth.  

The candidate would be located near either our Redwood City office or our Seattle office would be expected to be in the office several times a week.

Responsibilities:

• As the first member of the Product & IP legal team, you will advise  teams and be a thought leader on privacy and IP matters.  Partner closely with the product development teams and product management to provide practical, action-oriented legal advice and support on product and privacy issues for all phases of the product development life.
• Partner with the product organization to ensure contractual compliance with various contractual obligations, partnerships, and other legal requirements.
• Help build and participate in scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new products.
• Work with product teams, Finance, and other legal team members to structure and draft product-specific terms to be incorporated into standard commercial templates, terms of use, and product policies.
• Work closely with the product teams to understand and pro-actively anticipate legal issues regarding product development including privacy issues and regulatory requirements.
• Working with the GC and outside patent counsel, architect and implement a cost-effective IP portfolio strategy.
• Structure, grow, scale, and manage the product and IP legal team over time. 

Qualifications:

• Must have significant adtech and privacy experience at a leading adtech company.  
• Current member in good standing of a U.S. state bar in which they living and practicing.
• 7+ years of legal experience, 5 of which include product counseling in a law firm and/or in-house legal department of a technology company advising clients in the full range of product development and privacy matters.
• Strong work ethic and self-starter, with a growth mindset.
• Strategic thinker, but can also be detail-oriented, ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, strong project management and organizational skills, work well under pressure and deadlines.
• Excellent team player and interpersonal skills; focused on finding win:win solutions; must work well in fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment.
• Flexibility in working hours in a global enterprise.
• Strong personal communication skills, both written and oral.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment and an innovative approach to legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives.
• Experience working in a high-growth start-up environment
• People management experience, including growing and scaling teams

Our Compensation And Benefits (for California & New York State Residents Only)

Base Compensation Range: $282,478.00 - $423,718.00

In accordance with California & New York state law, the range provided is a reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. We also offer a competitive benefits package.
