About the Team and Role:

The Quora legal team is a highly collaborative bright and talented group of individuals who partner closely with the product and business teams to support the company’s innovation and growth. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to have high impact and growth with a best-in-class legal team.

Quora is seeking a talented Product Counsel to join and support our fast-growing legal team. As Product Counsel you will work closely with the product teams to advise on a variety of issues from content moderation intermediary liability intellectual property artificial intelligence and trust and safety. Additionally you will interface with regulators and manage litigation matters. This role will report to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with product and engineering teams to advise on issues related to content trust and safety IP and artificial intelligence

• Interface with global regulatory agencies

• Manage litigation matters globally

• Oversee Quora’s IP portfolio

• Collaborate with our product operations team to respond to law enforcement requests

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “ coordination hours ' (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)

• J.D. or equivalent degree

• Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g. have registered in-house status) in the state in which you are located

• 5+ years of in-house experience related to litigation and regulatory matters

• 2+ years advising on content legal issues for consumer-facing online services and advertising

• Understanding of global IP laws particularly copyright law and applicable regulations for content including the DMCA

• Self-starter who can achieve results in a remote-first environment: highly pragmatic detail-oriented organized and able to multitask in a very busy work environment

• Track record of effective risk management and assessment risk

• Prior experience working in-house with product and engineering teams

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay including but not limited to experience location education and business needs.

• US candidates only: For US based applicants the salary range is $138000 - $249743 USD + equity + benefits.

• Canada candidates only: For Canada based applicants the salary range is $166879 - $260429 CAD + equity + benefits.
