Product Data Manager
Job Description
As the owner of the product data release process, this individual leads the team bringing new products to market quickly and cleanly with proper documentation and approval. Drive changes to the process to reduce redundancies and improve time to market. Central process owner working with Product Development, Finance, Quality, Operations, and Sales teams. Candidate must possess a unique blend of process and product development savvy along the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
Essential Functions:
- Owner of the Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Notification (ECN) process - drive new product releases and changes to existing products.
- Owner of the Request For Engineering Assistance (RFEA) process - ensure proper vetting and approval of engineering projects.
- Manages tools related to the release process and identify new tools if/as needed to improve the process. Works hand in hand with the CAD/PLM team in Engineering to refine and improve the document process and related flow processes.
- Works with the Information Technology team, CAD PLM team and/or outside services to integrate the ECR/ECN process with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (JD Edwards)
- Lead continuous improvement projects related to the PLM and associated systems and processes.
- Track metrics related to the release process.
- Develop training materials and train team members on processes.
- Identify, coordinate and document systems issues and updates.
- Create and manager part numbers, related data, and Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Coordinate and chair weekly Change Control Board meetings.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with preference for concentration in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
- 5 to 10 years' experience desired, with 2 years' experience with automotive or complex hard goods preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in product data management role required.
- Significant experience with JD Edwards ERP system, Teamcenter PLM system or similar software is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with process development and/or improvement.
- Must have a collaborative working and communication style and ability to work with diverse work group from all levels of organization.
- Experience with new product planning and development processes.
- Occasional travel by car or plane may be required.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other team members. Conflict resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and customer service skills.
Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:
Must be able to work in an office environment as well as a shop environment as job duties require. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:
Personal computer, fax machine, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Project. May minimally operate basic hand tools.
