Product Design Engineer 1

Job Description

Expert for product function and design, and related vehicle systems -- trains / supports other engineering groups to perform in-depth product analysis as required. Performs detailed testing of products and systems on trial vehicles at OEM sites. Working with hardware and software design engineers at regional / global HQ to launch new products, new components, implement VA/VE, and perform design-for-manufacturing studies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Acting as a communication interface between various Japanese and domestic design sections and local manufacturing / engineering groups.
• Participating in a Cross Functional Team (CFT) environment
• Performing deep analysis of circuit hardware & software.
• Developing software tools that aid in hardware or vehicle analysis, or automation of department related tasks
• Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) studies that strive to balance design specifications with manufacturing guidelines
• Testing of electronic systems on vehicles at OEM factory sites.
• Problem solving that involves mechanical / electrical engineering principles.
• Occasional domestic and foreign travel.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 0-5 years+ professional experience in any industry
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge in programming a plus (particularly in LabVIEW)

Salary Information: Starting salary is flexible based on candidate experience & education. Expected range: $80,000+
