Job Description

About Sigma:

Sigma is SaaS, next-generation business intelligence and data exploration platform that is changing the analytics landscape. Sigma offers a spreadsheet-like and intuitive interface that enables all decision makers to securely analyze up to billions of rows of live data with the unlimited scale and speed of the cloud. With Sigma, everyone can quickly answer their own questions to make and visualize accurate, data-driven decisions.

We are looking for Graduate students who are passionate about cutting edge cloud computing projects. As a Product Design Graduate Intern, you will be developing and honing your skills with a full product experience team of product and visual designers, user researchers and content writers. Come join us in redefining the way users access big data and get insights.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • You'll own a project from concept to delivery during your internship and will collaborate real-time with our Engineers and your fellow Product Designers
  • You’ll collaborate with our product management, user research, customer success, and support teams to actively seek user product feedback that advance our solutions and improve product adoption and utilization
  • You’ll delight business users with simple, elegant designs as they explore data and generate insights
  • You’ll get mentored by experienced and passionate product designers and gain industry exposure to how experience teams work

Qualifications We Need:

  • Actively pursuing a Graduate level degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Sciences or similar field graduating in December 2023 or June 2024
  • Located within the U.S. and able to work full-time in our San Francisco HQ (40 hours per week) between June 2023 - September 2023
  • Demonstrable rational design thinking and understanding of research methodologies
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills; demonstrating the ability to clearly explain design decisions to anyone in the company

Portfolio Requirements:

  • Your portfolio must demonstrate breadth, and depth in UX, interaction design and research methodologies.
  • Your portfolio must describe your design process and show examples of the progressive evolution of your designs. We’re interested in use cases that inform us of the business problem you were trying to solve, the constraints and assumptions you needed to work within, where the design started and your significant iterations leading to the final design
  • Your portfolio should inform us of how your designs furthered project objectives while at the same time meeting user needs

If you do not feel that you satisfy all the listed requirements, we encourage you to still apply. We are enthusiastically looking for people that will help us grow our company and sometimes we are imperfect communicators and can’t articulate perfectly what experience is required for a role. We are looking for people that are excited to grow and constantly ask how we can do things better. If you are excited about the opportunity, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t satisfy 100% of the job requirements.

What’s next:

To get started, submit your application through our job posting. We review the resumes quickly that we receive but sometimes there are a lot of applications so please be sure that the relevant information on your resume stands out.

We expect the entire process to take no more than 3-5 weeks depending on your availability and it will include the following steps:

  • Phone conversation with someone on our hiring team
  • One week take-home exercise
  • 60 minute Zoom presentation to a design team member (a brief will be provided to you so you know what to prepare)

Note: The world around us is changing, but we at Sigma Computing are growing and scaling. We raised our Series C in Dec 2021. With that, and us being able to 3X our revenue year on year, hiring and building out the best version of our product is priority. That is why we want to talk to you.

About us:

At Sigma Computing, our mission is to empower everyone to make the best possible decisions at every turn by removing the barriers that prevent people from analyzing data across sources and delivering the full spectrum of self-service cloud analytics and business intelligence.

We recently announced a $300M Series C raise from Co-Leads D1 Capital Partners and XN, Existing Investors Sutter Hill Ventures and Altimeter Capital, and Snowflake Ventures.

Come join us to help us be smarter and grow together!

Benefits For Our Full-Time Employees:
