We are seeking a Product Design Intern to join our team for Summer 2024. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of Waltham, MA.
Job Summary
Imprivata's Product Design Intern is uniquely positioned to help health care providers deliver services to patients faster and more effectively through the use of intuitively designed digital identity management experiences. Your work directly impacts the welfare of others. The Product Design Intern is a member of the Product Design team. This role requires someone who is creative, but also considers the details and the importance of getting them right. This position exposes one to cross-functional collaboration, rapid exploration, and working with smart, inquisitive people on critical business challenges. This role could either provide interaction and visual design expertise or focus on one specialty while working seamlessly with complementary designers, in addition to assisting with user research.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in distilling business requirements into focused, understandable design deliverables, such as annotated wireframes, storyboards, and mock-ups.
- Deep dive into specific areas of a product to understand capabilities and limitations and provide guidance on the addition or extension of functionality.
- Work collaboratively with the Design team on projects in a variety of sizes and scope, from single widgets or patterns to stand-alone features.
- Learn to recognize the best design ideas and be willing to negotiate for the best overall project outcome.
- Deliver artifacts for practical and usable designs under tight deadlines.
- Assist or lead qualitative user research and testing activities.
- Incorporate usability findings and heuristics as applicable into in-flight designs.
- Other duties as assigned and required
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a major in a relevant area of study such as in User Interface Design, Usability, Industrial Design, Anthropology, or Cognitive Psychology.
- Must include a link to portfolio of design work and user research artifacts.
- Ability to take direction and guidance well, ask for feedback early and often, and collaborate with design team members to meet deadlines.
- Experience with user interaction design and prototyping tools appropriate for enterprise. and mobile platforms like Figma, Miro, Axure, or similar.
- Knowledge of user-centered design and development principles.
- Knowledge of user research and usability testing methodologies.
- Detail-oriented problem-solving skills a must.
- Aptitude for understanding human behavior and interactions with digital devices and media.
- Strong visual design skills preferred.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS a plus.
- Team player with a curious attitude for all aspects of product development.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
