Product Design Lead

Position Summary:

League is a company invested in good design—as a Product Design Lead, you’ll join a tight-knit, collaborative team of designers who care deeply about creating beautiful and intuitive experiences. Our team is at the center of product work at League, designing experiences for millions of users and helping them live happier, healthier lives. You’ll help shape League’s product, working with team members across content strategy, design research, engineering, product, and sales.

We’re looking for someone who will manage a small team of product designers in a player/coach role. You’ll regularly mentor and coach the members of your team, balancing freedom and autonomy with guidelines, tools, continual feedback, and support to help them succeed and grow as designers. Later in the year, you may provide design support for the team advancing our provider experience.

• Gain a deep understanding of the designers on your team, including their strengths, goals, and opportunity areas in order to design meaningful, individualized growth plans to help them feel engaged, fulfilled, and to do their best work.
• Provide regular feedback on designs to ensure proper scope, design pattern adherence, and execution of UX best practices.
• Ensure that all voices are heard and advocate for deep user empathy in the design process, facilitating workshops and other collaborative sessions to bring the best ideas to life.
• Play an important role in a project’s success through goal setting: ensuring we’re meeting our initiative and/or company-wide goals as well as feature-specific micro-KPI’s.
• Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with cross-functional team leaders to efficiently deliver experience increments in an agile model.
• Advocate for best in class design while understanding and balancing the business needs and time constraints.
• Work closely with our design research team to validate assumptions and increase confidence.
• Identify areas of improvement, shape and contribute to ongoing improvements in quality standards and process efficiencies.
• Contribute to League's design system, Genesis.

Minimal Qualifications:

• 7+ years working experience as a product designer, 2+ years in a people management role
• You are or have been part of a team that has successfully shipped digital products
• You design simple but usable interactions, flows and experiences
• You have experience working with agile design processes, iterative prototyping, and exhibit fluency with tools of the trade (Figma, Jira, Confluence, etc)
• You are comfortable with ambiguity, helping to surface and define problems as well as solutions 
• You can communicate direction and/or rationalize design decisions to cross functional peers and stakeholders
• You have a strong ability to think technically with working knowledge of platform patterns for web, iOS, and Android
• You are well-versed in accessible design
