Role Description
As a Product Designer Manager for the Files area you’ll work with cross-functional partners to create the strategy, vision, and plan of action for the best web-based experiences for Dropbox customers. The Files team owns fundamental experiences used by millions of people around the world, including our file browser, end-to-end upload experience, and content previewer.
 
As a design leader you’ll be a champion for innovative and impactful approaches to solve the most important problems for our customers. You’ll be a steward of operational excellence, holding your teams accountable to ambitious goals and developing processes to achieve efficient but impactful outcomes along with a well-loved culture. You’ll lead a team of 4-5 product designers not only by means of their product work, you’ll also be a coach and mentor in their career development and a culture and community builder. You’ll be a driver in maintaining a high craft bar within our web experiences to ensure continued improvement in product quality.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Set vision & strategy with your product partner and persuasively communicate direction
  • Guide your teams through focused work that lead to both customer and business results
  • Make clear and timely decisions that unblock your teams and partners
  • Manage a motivated and skilled product design team with humility, candor, and flexibility
  • Hold high standards of quality and work with partner organizations and teams to design cohesive customer experiences
  • Be dedicated to your team’s progress by investing in skill development, culture, and community
Requirements
  • 2+ years experience leading a team of designers as a manager
  • Ability to effectively guide teams through a range of experiments to big swings
  • Strong design craft (while this isn’t a practicing IC role, it’s important that you’ll be able to lead your team to quality execution and coach on skill development)
  • Customer-focused mindset with critical business evaluation skills
  • History of building strong cross functional partnerships
  • Demonstrated experience working on projects from discovery through shipping/iteration.
  • Clear, compelling presentation and communication style
  • Culture builder with excitement around building trusting and collaborative environments
