Product Designer

More than half of Americans have a poor credit score or no score at all. Since most financial institutions rely on traditional credit scoring to assess risk, that means these people can't access affordable financial products. Instead, they resort to high-interest credit cards, payday loans, and trigger overdraft fees to make ends meet — which ultimately push them into deeper cycles of debt. 

Pinwheel provides an API platform that makes it easy to connect payroll accounts like ADP and Gusto to any app. By unlocking the wealth of identity, income and employment data that sits in these systems, alongside direct access to paychecks, we can help innovators build the next generation of financial products that increase access for the underserved while improving the businesses of our partner fintechs, banks, and lenders. 

Pinwheel is at an exciting growth stage in our journey and we are looking for a Product Designer, reporting to our Design Lead, who can demonstrate strong human-centered design thinking. The ideal candidate is a generalist with expertise in both UX and visual design. They’ll have the opportunity to work across the entire product end-to-end, and also help build the design team and culture.

• Be involved in the conception and strategy for product features and improvements
• Plan and conduct qualitative research (interviews, surveys, studies, prototyping)
• Design user experiences and flows at all fidelities for Link and developer dashboard — both mobile and desktop platforms
• Deliver design specifications for implementation
• Build and maintain the design system
• Content strategy and design

• 3+ years experience on cross-collaborative (product, engineering, and design) product team(s)
• Experience working on consumer and/or mobile products
• Strong understanding of Figma (and other modern design tools)
• Experience designing B2B (business to business / enterprise) products and/or fintech industry is preferred
• Bilingual and copywriting skills are both a plus
