We are Relish Works, an innovation hub focused on challenging the status quo and pioneering the next evolution of the food industry. Relish Works operates as an independent start-up focused on user-centered solutions and improvements to the wholesale food distribution business, as well as solving for unmet customer needs within the broader food industry.
We are a scrappy group of passionate practitioners and are looking to add a talented Product Designer to our team to support our ventures. This will be a remote contract position.Ā
About the role:
Our teamĀ is looking for a Product Designer to manage product design work for a new ventureĀ while influencing our service design and product strategy. You will work closely with a small team of Growth Product Management, Product Marketing and marketing experts to connect dots and inspire great design solutions that ultimately drive ventures forward. You will bring a design perspective to marketing, sales, customer experience, and product development.Ā
This role is best for someone who is looking for balance in doing and managing. We are looking for someone who loves to be a design generalistāĀ a passion for research, appreciation for a talent for great communication design, and the energy to conceptualize new experiences in start-up environment that requires testing, learning, and application of results to help grow ventures quickly. You will need to get into the weeds of interaction design while working with product and marketing to conceptualize the next feature to explore.Ā
Your day to day could be a combination of any of the following:Ā
- Working with the General Manager and other team leaders to plan design projects for the team on a quarterly basis
- Creating a design strategy and roadmap of initiatives the team should prioritize in order to reach our business goals
- Collaborating with our Product Manager and Product Marketing team to identify, prioritize, and implement features and functionality on our product roadmap
- Leading design of new features, training materials, social content, etc. from ideation to execution and handing off to developersĀ
- Planning, scoping, and conducting design research with our target audience to inform and iterate on our products, operations, and overall business strategyĀ
- Analyzing, synthesizing, and communicating research findings to key stakeholders and team membersĀ
- Facilitating a design culture where critique, skillshare, and collaboration is encouragedĀ
- Collaborating with Product Marketing to identify, scope, and measure go-to-market value proposition tests and launches
- Shape and conduct user researchĀ
- Synthesize and communicate research findings
You should apply if you have:Ā
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree
- 2-4 years of design experience (service design, design research, experience design, design strategy)Ā
- 1+ years of leading design projects and workstreamsĀ
- Experience working with start-ups, small teams and dev teams
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a self-directed culture
- Proficiency with Figma, Google Docs + Drive
- Openness to learn from diverse perspectives and collaborate on multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to balance design team needs, stakeholder needs, and business goals
- Desire to work on a lot of different types and sizes of projectsĀ
- Aspiration to work in a startup environment where we move fast
- Willingness to ask questions
- A learner mindset - you are always interested in expanding your knowledgeĀ
- Strong visual and communication design skills
