SUMMARY

As a member of Arete's Product & Engineering team, the Product Designer, UX works closely with the Design leader to implement a world-class web and application experience. The Product Designer, UX has a strong foundational understanding of front-end development and focus on User Experience and User Interface Design (UX/UI). They have experience working in agile teams with developers, UX designers, and product managers. The Product Designer, UX, at Arete has a great opportunity to propose and iterate through design decisions, as well as translate any given user-experience journey into intuitive interaction within the cyber insurance industry.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a deep understanding of current product development cycles through published user stories and product development meetings.
  • Leverage design system to iterate on existing product suite - develop and document user flows, journeys, and wireframes while effectively communicating design ideas.
  • Meet product design deadlines by iterating through design concepts, proposing enhancements based on stakeholder requirements, develop prototypes, and deliver detailed, low fidelity and high-fidelity mockups.
  • Perform consistent quality assurance checks for consistency, brand alignment, and future enhancements.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with developers, UX designers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Present design decisions within an iterative framework. All design decisions should be based upon the overall design roadmap as well as leverage design thinking and fundamental principles of design.
  • Stay up to date on the latest changes and developments in industry, and proactively suggest process improvements with the team.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficient with Figma, Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience in developing mobile first designs.
  • ReactJS or Vue techstacks are a plus.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and foundational understanding of user centered design methodologies, UI principles and facilitating UI responsiveness.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in user interface design work for web applications accompanied by a strong portfolio of work
  • High level expertise in iterating through low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes, developing prototypes for engineering and marketing, and communicating with product managers.
  • Experience with Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Understanding agile methodologies to work across teams.
  • Effective presentation skills, open to collaboration, communication, and feedback
  • Creative ideas with a problem-solving mindset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with Arete salary and benefit policy.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
