Product Development Coordinator
Job Description
We have an immediate opening for a Product Development Coordinator to join our Product Development team!
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage Change Control projects for Product Development. This includes working with the co-man to change formulae. Verify regulatory compliance, update artwork, and work with supply chain to manage the transition.
- Support the current product portfolio maintenance, which may include ingredient substitutions, ingredient and packaging updates, shelf life extension, process changes, and label updates to support new regulations.
- Support the team by assisting with consumer testing processes, to include coordinating samples and communications with Operations, recruiting and executing tests, incentive disbursement.
- R&D Kitchen management: coordinate organization, sanitation, supplies, competitive product reviews.
- Responsible for the technical evaluation of ingredients, finished products, packaging and artwork, as it relates to the areas of new product development, reformulations, product improvements, cost reduction and packaging re-design projects.
- Maintains product and packaging specifications and other technical supporting documentation/databases for new and existing products.
- Support Operation's online resources for each launch. (Complete product ingredient list & Cooking instructions document)
- Work closely with Product Development, QA, Contract Manufacturers and Supply Chain teams to meet project timelines and business needs and comply with internal and external quality and safety and regulatory standards.
- Support knowledge management process by effectively documenting all work including technical plans, experimental reports, plant trials, and specifications.
- Ensure that projects comply with Jenny Craig policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Consult and collaborate with internal partners (Marketing, Supply Chain, QA and Nutrition departments) and external partners (Co-manufacturers, Regulatory consultants) when providing guidance.
- Responsible for supporting a positive, professional, team-oriented, harassment-free work environment by understanding and complying with the Operations Manual, the Jenny Craig Safety Policy/Manual and all Human Resources policies, and by demonstrating the Company's values and being a role model for the Company Brand
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years, experience working in a product development kitchen or laboratory
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dietetics, Nutrition or equivalent
Other Skills:
- Ability to be pro-active and to put facts together to solve problems
- Ability to create, read and analyze reports
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project.
- Ability to be an effective team player
- Ability to multitask
- Project management and organization skills, flexible, ability to work on multiple projects with various priorities and timelines.
- Knowledge and experience in food manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of FDA, USDA, CFIA regulations and labeling.
- Ability to taste and articulate various food products, expertise in guiding development to meet desired outcome. Must be willing to taste all food types, including meats, dairy products, gluten, sweet and baked goods, soy, high intensity sweeteners, etc.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly.
- Travel up to 10%.
